Hospice partnership
A veteran-led hospice partnership
VETTED and Lily Hospice are developing a hospice program led by veterans, for veterans and their families. It is not yet accepting patients.
What vetted-care.com is
vetted-care.com is the home of a veteran-led hospice partnership between VETTED and Lily Hospice. The goal is simple: veterans at the end of life should be cared for by people who understand military service and what it can leave behind.
The partnership is still in development. It is not yet accepting patients, and it does not provide hospice care today. We will update this page when that changes.
Why a veteran-led hospice
Veterans often come to the end of life carrying things other people do not see. Some want to talk about their service for the first time. Some never want to talk about it. Some families want military honors, a pinning ceremony or a visit from a fellow veteran. Others want a quiet room and familiar faces.
A veteran-led program starts from that understanding. It means asking about service early, listening to the answer, and making sure the veteran's family knows what VA benefits and burial honors may be available to them.
Who does what
VETTED does not provide hospice care. VETTED provides non-medical in-home care for veterans and federal contracting services.
Lily Hospice is a separate, Medicare-certified hospice serving Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties. Lily Hospice and VETTED are separate companies. They are affiliated through common ownership by Chris Warburton, VETTED's co-owner and vice president.
VETTED's founder, Evan Shelline, chairs the Veteran Advisory Committee at Lily Hospice. That work shaped the idea for the partnership.
