VETTED is hiring Home Care Aides in Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties. You help veterans live safely at home. We train you, support you and build your schedule close to where you live.

What the work is
As a Home Care Aide, you visit veterans in their homes and help with the things that have become hard to do alone. Many veterans who receive VA home care are older. Some are living with dementia. Some have a spouse or adult child who needs a break.
On a typical visit, you might:
- Help with bathing, dressing, grooming and using the toilet
- Help the veteran move around the house and transfer safely, such as from bed to chair
- Make meals and tidy the kitchen
- Do light housekeeping and laundry
- Give medication reminders
- Run errands or drive to appointments
- Keep the veteran company, and give a family caregiver time to rest
This is non-medical work. You will not give medications, do wound care or perform nursing tasks. You will watch for changes in how a veteran is doing and report them to your supervisor.
Be ready for real work. Some days are physical. Some veterans are slow to trust a new face. The job asks for patience, reliability and respect. In return, you get to make a real difference for someone who served.
Hours and schedule
Hours depend on the care each veteran is authorized to receive through VA. VA sets the number of hours per week for each veteran, so some visits are short and some are longer. We will be honest with you about how many hours we can offer when you start, and we work to add more as our client list grows.
We build routes close to home. We try to match you with veterans near where you live so you spend your time caring, not driving.
Requirements
To apply
- You are 18 or older
- You have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license and current auto insurance
- You can pass a criminal background check and exclusion screening
- You are dependable, patient and respectful
After a conditional job offer
- A TB test
- CPR certification
You do not need these to apply. We will explain what is required, and how to get it, once we make you a conditional offer.
What we offer
Training
We train you before your first unsupervised visit. That includes personal care, safe transfers, dementia-aware care and privacy. A supervisor checks your skills with you in person.
A veteran-led team
VETTED was founded by a veteran and is run by people who have managed care teams for years. We expect a lot, and we back you up. When something goes wrong on a visit, you have someone to call.
A fast start
Michigan does not require a certification for non-medical caregivers. You can start soon after you are hired and finish your onboarding and training. No experience? We will train you.
